RFA Passes and Mahsa Eshghi is Camas’ Newest City Council Member Following November Election

The Nov. 4 general election has been certified, and the results show that the Regional Fire Authority (RFA) ballot measure passed in both Camas and Washougal.

In addition to the RFA passing, three of the four incumbents on the Camas City Council will remain on the dais. Ward 2’s Tim Hein and Martin Elzingre both ran unopposed. Ward 1’s Marilyn Boerke defeated Geoerl Niles, while Camas’ Ward 3 will have a new representative, Mahsa Eshghi, who defeated incumbent Leslie Lewallen.

Washougal Mourns Loss of Former Mayor and Current Councilmember Molly Coston

The City of Washougal is deeply saddened to share the passing of former mayor and current councilmember Molly Coston. A long-serving public official and dedicated community volunteer, Coston’s leadership and commitment played a central role in Washougal’s growth and civic identity for nearly two decades.

Camas Public Library Donates Newspaper Microfilm to Clark County Genealogical Society

The Camas Public Library is donating its historical microfilm collection of local newspapers to the Clark County Genealogical Society (CCGS).

The collection includes 48 reels: 47 reels of the Camas-Washougal Post-Record (1982-2007) and 1 reel of the Lacamas News (1887-1892).

Camas High School Joins City Effort to Educate About Lacamas Lake

A partnership between the City of Camas and students from the Camas High School Watershed Alliance Club (CWAC) has resulted in new informational signs being placed around Lacamas Lake.

Students in the newly formed CWAC group reached out to the City in October 2024 to discuss ways they could help inform the public about nonpoint source pollutants that contribute to harmful algal blooms in Lacamas Lake.

City of Camas Announces Scott Collins as New Public Works Director

Following a national search, the City of Camas announced that Scott Collins will be the City of Camas’ next Public Works Director. Collins will assume the position effective Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025.
