UPDATE: Opportunity for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

Each year the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to be used for projects and activities that serve low to moderate income populations. CDBG funds are awarded through a competitive process through Clark County Community Development. Camas competes with other municipalities in Clark County for a small pool of available funds. Proposed projects usually include rehabilitation of two or three blocks of public streets, sidewalks and curb ramps. See past projects before and after pictures below.

The eligible project areas within Camas are shown on the attached map. Camas staff has identified 4 eligible locations for a potential project as depicted on the attached aerial map. Camas staff and Council will be discussing a potential project selection for a grant application at the 7:00 PM Council meeting on Monday, October 19th.

The Council Meeting information, staff report and related materials for this Council agenda item can be viewed here, beginning on page 68 of 77.

Public comments and questions to Camas staff may be directed to Jim Hodges, Project Manager, jhodges@cityofcamas.us or 360-817-7234; or James Carothers, Engineering Manager, jcarothers@cityofcamas.us
