City of Camas Announces Scott Collins as New Public Works Director

Following a national search, the City of Camas announced that Scott Collins will be the City of Camas’ next Public Works Director. Collins will assume the position effective Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025.

Collins was one of four finalists brought in for a full-day interview process, that included meeting with the City Senior Leadership team, selected community members and the Mayor and City Administrator

According to Camas Mayor Steve Hogan, Collins was the best choice for the role.

“Scott checked all the boxes in terms of what we were looking for in our next Public Works Director,” said Hogan. “While we had a phenomenal pool of candidates, Scott’s background and skill set will help provide us with current success and will be integral for future success as well. We’re very excited to welcome him to the team and his commute won’t be bad either,” he said.

Prior to accepting the role with Camas, Collins, who is a civil engineer, spent the last three years as the City Engineer and Deputy Public Works Director with the City of Washougal. Before that, he spent a significant amount of time in similar roles with the City of Modesto, CA, having served as their Traffic Engineer, Traffic Operations Engineer and Assistant Civil Engineer.

“I’m very excited to start my role as Camas’ next Public Works Director,” said Collins. “My family and I moved to the Pacific Northwest three years ago and we’re proud to call Camas home. I love the strong culture this city has established and look forward to contributing to the continued success of the community I live in.”

Born and raised in Mountain View, California, Collins has worked in construction, private design, and city government, giving him a unique perspective on public infrastructure from all angles. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Pacific and is a licensed Civil Engineer in both California and Washington, as well as a licensed Traffic Engineer in California.

Outside of work, Collins enjoys cooking, exploring new foods, watching sports, hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
