Commercial Encroachment Permits
Commercial encroachment permits include the following:
- Franchise Encroachment Permits (permitting for public utilities as defined in CMC 12.20.010)
- Special Encroachment Permits (special permits are required for permanent and semi-permanent installations in the right-of-way, such as enclosed restaurant seating on a public sidewalk.)
- Small Wireless Facility Installation (subject to Land Use approval)
To obtain a permit in the right-of-way:
- Fill out the Commercial (Franchise) or Special Encroachment Permit on Civic Access. Upload the listed documents below.
- Project Plans or Sketch
- Traffic Control Plan (if required)
- Estimate of work and material costs, including traffic control
- Read and sign the Standard Conditions.
- Read and sign the Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement.
- Read and sign the Insurance Requirement Form.
- Supply a Certificate of Liability Insurance (ACORD).
