The Camas City Council is considering placing a change in the form of government on the ballot for a future election. As part of the information process, a committee selected by the Mayor issued a report that was provided to Council this past summer. Following that report, Council asked for a Town Hall to occur in order to better understand where Camas residents stand on the issue.

The City of Camas is teaming up with the Lacamas Watershed Council for the annual Lake Cleanup, Saturday, Sept. 26, beginning at 9:30 a.m., bringing community volunteers together to help care for the three lakes that make up the Lacamas watershed: Lacamas Lake, Round Lake and Fallen Leaf Lake.

NOTICE OF PLANNING COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING

Officials with the City of Camas Public Works department have announced that the annual drawdown of Lacamas Lake and Round Lake has been rescheduled for a start date of Sept. 21.

Beginning at 8 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, the City will reduce the total level of the lakes by approximately six feet, in order to achieve the level needed to facilitate dam inspections and make repairs. The City will also be replacing parts of the dam in order to update and improve it, which is why more time is required.

Due to dry conditions and high temperatures, and the inherent fire danger associated with this condition, Camas-Washougal Fire Department’s Fire Chief Cliff Free and Fire Marshal Kevin Bergstrom have issued a recreational burn ban in the cities of Camas and Washougal.
