The Technology Department is working behind the scenes to support every City service you rely on—from public safety to utility billing to digital access. We are committed to modernizing systems, protecting City data, and ensuring staff have the tools they need to serve the Camas community efficiently and effectively.
Below is a snapshot of our current priorities and recent accomplishments.
Current Projects
- VOIP Phone System Upgrade
Replacing the City’s aging phone system with a secure, cloud-based platform to improve reliability, flexibility, and communication across departments.
- Windows 11 Upgrade
Upgrading computers Citywide to meet Microsoft’s support timeline and ensure continued security, compatibility, and performance.
- BitLocker Device Encryption
Enhancing data protection through full-disk encryption on City laptops and workstations to safeguard sensitive information.
- SharePoint Online Intranet
Creating a centralized internal hub for City staff to access documents, forms, policies, and department updates in one secure, organized place.
Recently Completed
- Camas Connect App Launch
Released the City’s official mobile app "one stop shop"—allowing residents to submit service requests, receive alerts, pay utility bills, and stay informed about City news and events.
- Microsoft 365 Rollout
Transitioned all departments to Microsoft 365 to support secure email, collaboration, and productivity tools across the organization.
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Implemented multi-factor authentication to enhance account security and reduce the risk of unauthorized access to City systems.
- Tyler Implementation
Expanding digital permitting, asset management, and utility billing through new tools like Civic Access and Enterprise Asset Management. Launched an integrated financial and enterprise resource planning system to streamline budgeting, procurement, and payroll processes.
- Citywide Physical Access Control Upgrade
Installed a modern, centralized access control system across City facilities to enhance security and ensure safe, managed building access.
- Real-Time Security Monitoring Implementation
Deployed a centralized system to detect and respond to potential cyber threats in real time, strengthening the City’s overall cybersecurity posture.
- Infrastructure Upgrades
Replaced aging systems and adopt scalable solutions that support long-term sustainability, resilience and security.
