Volunteering for the City of Camas

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! When our community comes together, we thrive together. There are many ways to get involved, in a variety of departments and assignments. All volunteers must first complete a Volunteer Services Interest form, located here. Each department will have different openings and volunteer needs at any given time.

Vehicle Restoration Permit

The City requires an individual to obtain a vehicle restoration permit if they own a vehicle that has been declared a public nuisance/junk vehicle and meets any of the following categories:

Taxi/Chauffeur

All businesses located within the city limits whose service is to provide vehicles for hire (including limousines, taxicabs, and/or vans) must obtain a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. An application can be obtained online or in person at City Hall. The completed form must be submitted to the Finance Department between the hours of 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., M-F.

Upon submission of a completed application, a public hearing will be set whereupon the City Council will issue a decision for approval or denial of the application.

Solicitors License

Definition and Application Procedure

A solicitor/hawker/peddler license is required for each individual who may go from home to home, on City streets or sidewalks, or other public places within the city limits to sell or solicit orders for goods. Licenses do not cover the business; each person selling on behalf of a business must have an individual license.

Secondhand Dealer

A pawnbroker/secondhand dealer’s license is required for any individual who wishes to engage in the business of loaning money on the security of pledges, deposits or conditional sales of personal property; or buying or selling secondhand personal property, metal junk or melted metals.

Featured Collections

Virginia Warren Collection

In 2019 local historian, Virginia Warren, donated 3 volumes of her scrapbook collection to the Library. These scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, information, and photos documenting Camas-area history. As part of the Centennial Celebrations, we are ecstatic to present digitizations of Virginia's historical work for all to read.
