Taxi/Chauffeur

All businesses located within the city limits whose service is to provide vehicles for hire (including limousines, taxicabs, and/or vans) must obtain a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. An application can be obtained online or in person at City Hall. The completed form must be submitted to the Finance Department between the hours of 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., M-F.

Upon submission of a completed application, a public hearing will be set whereupon the City Council will issue a decision for approval or denial of the application.

Solicitors License

Definition and Application Procedure

A solicitor/hawker/peddler license is required for each individual who may go from home to home, on City streets or sidewalks, or other public places within the city limits to sell or solicit orders for goods. Licenses do not cover the business; each person selling on behalf of a business must have an individual license.

Secondhand Dealer

A pawnbroker/secondhand dealer’s license is required for any individual who wishes to engage in the business of loaning money on the security of pledges, deposits or conditional sales of personal property; or buying or selling secondhand personal property, metal junk or melted metals.

Virginia Warren Collection

In 2019 local historian, Virginia Warren, donated 3 volumes of her scrapbook collection to the Library. These scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, information, and photos documenting Camas-area history. As part of the Centennial Celebrations, we are ecstatic to present digitizations of Virginia's historical work for all to read.

Business Licensing

Business License Requirements

The City of Camas requires a license for businesses located within city limits or conducting business within city limits. If you are not sure if you will do business within the city limits, please review Camas Municipal Code (CMC) 5.02.010 G to determine whether your business activities meet the requirements for a license.

Dog License

Camas Municipal Code requires that all dogs over the age of six months within the city limits be licensed. The license is good for the lifetime of the dog, and should be kept on the dog’s collar at all times.

Ward Information

The City of Camas has three wards. Of the seven elected Council members, there is one elected at-large and six elected within wards. The wards are established based on population estimates within the City's boundaries and are reviewed and modified periodically by Council.
