We have had an incredible second season of Kid Librarians and we are ending strong with Bowen! Bowen (6) loves animal books, especially if they're about big predators. He recommends Mo Willems' Elephant and Piggy books, and we heard from a certain bird that Bowen thinks reading is cool because he can read to his little brother at night when they should be sleeping. According to Pigeon, staying up late to read is a key qualification to becoming a librarian. Keep up the good work, Bowen!
Kid Librarian is almost over but before we say good-bye, say hello to Cora! Cora decided to create a book display using the many dragon books in our collection. We have the ever-popular Wings of Fire, Dragon Masters, Inkheart, and The Last Dragon Chronicles series along with much, much more. Too bad we didn't have any fire-breathing dragons around to keep us warm this weekend!
This week's Kid Librarian is Narayan. Narayan has a wide variety of interests which you can see by his book display! Basketball, chess, math, anatomy and physiology, superheros, and fantasy stories. There's plenty to choose from and lots to learn about!
Samantha is this week's Kid Librarian and she included a wonderful poster about some of her favorite things. Samantha is a big fan of the characters Matilda and Ramona Quimby and loves the Never Girls and the Pet Rescue Adventures series.
Kid Librarian has a 2-for-1 special this week with brothers, Adam and Ollie! Adam wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up and included lots of books about dinosaurs in their display. Ollie is a big fan of sharks as you can see by his book choices. Come on down to the Library and visit this ferocious display!
This week our Kid Librarian is Bryson! As you can see, Bryson (10) is a big fan of the classic Harry Potter and Wings of Fire series but he also included a newer fantasy duology called Emblem Island by Alex Aster. We love seeing the hidden gems of our children's collection on display. Thanks for the recommendation, Bryson!
Lucas (10) is this week's Kid Librarian. Lucas is a fan of Stuart Gibbs (author of the Spy School and Moon Base Alpha series) and is re-reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He loves Studio Ghibli films which he included in his display. Lucas also wants you to know about the Library's YouTube channel. Many of our virtual programs are recorded and on YouTube, as well as information about our annual Summer Reading Program, and much more.
Our first Kid Librarian of 2023 is Andrew! Andrew's display has a wide variety of books for different reading levels. He recommends listening to books on our Playaway devices which can be found in our audiobook section and are kept in orange cases. Andrew also wants people to know that the Camas Library has a lot of history which is a great introduction to our Centennial Year!
Next up in our Kid Librarian lineup, we have Wesley! Wesley (10) is a huge fan of Brandon Mull's fantasy series and has pulled many of those books for his display. Wesley also encourages you to stroll through our courtyard and take a look at all of the cool trees by the veranda. We love hearing about our patrons' favorite hidden spot in the Library. Say hello to Rachel, our newest Kid Librarian! As you can see, Rachel's shelves are full to the brim with great books - perfect for keeping the Winter Break boredom at bay. Rachel has some great choices for young readers who are transitioning from Children's to Teen Fiction. We hope to see you at the Library!
