City of Camas and Lacamas Watershed Council Team Up for Annual Lake Cleanup Sept. 26

The City of Camas is teaming up with the Lacamas Watershed Council for the annual Lake Cleanup, Saturday, Sept. 26, beginning at 9:30 a.m., bringing community volunteers together to help care for the three lakes that make up the Lacamas watershed: Lacamas Lake, Round Lake and Fallen Leaf Lake.

Interested participants can meet at the Heritage Park parking lot, at the southeast corner nearest to the play structures. Volunteers will then work together to remove litter, debris and invasive plants from the lakes and surrounding areas, which helps keep these important natural resources clean, healthy and enjoyable for the entire community.

“We’re happy to team up with the City for this important event,” said Ty Cobb, President of the Lacamas Watershed Council. “The annual lake cleanup efforts dovetail nicely with our mission of improving the Lacamas Creek watershed. Ultimately, we hope our work and City events like this will benefit everyone by improving water quality in the watershed,” said Cobb. 

Community members, families and organizations are all encouraged to participate. A volunteer sign up form is available here: https://www.lacamaswatershed.org/volunteer. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own drinking water, gloves, loppers (if available) and trash bags. However, organizers will have extra supplies available to distribute to volunteers, if needed.
