It is with profound sorrow that the City of Camas mourns the tragic loss of hometown hero Greg Biffle. Greg, along with members of his family, was killed today in a devastating plane crash in North Carolina.

Greg was one of the most accomplished racing drivers in NASCAR history and a champion in multiple series and celebrated as one of the sport’s greats. But he was more than that to us, he was also a proud son of Camas and a graduate of Camas High School, whose achievements brought immense pride to our community. We also honored him for this by naming a street after him here in town.

Beyond the racetrack, Greg was known for his generous spirit and commitment to helping others. He used his resources and skills to give back in meaningful ways, including humanitarian missions and disaster relief efforts. His legacy of service and compassion touched lives far beyond Camas.

On behalf of all our residents, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Biffle family and the loved ones of all those affected by this tragedy. Greg’s passion, courage and kindness embodied the very best of our community, and his loss will be felt deeply by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and all whose lives he enriched.

Steve Hogan, Mayor of Camas
