City of Camas Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 2025-2026 Budget
The City of Camas’ Finance Department is once again receiving awards. Camas was recently awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the City’s 2025-2026 Biennial Budget.
According to the GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement by the City of Camas. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, Camas had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:
- a policy document
- a financial plan
- an operations guide
- a communications device
“Every time we receive this award, it validates the hard work and long hours that go into this process and document,” said Camas Finance Director, Cathy Huber Nickerson. “The recognition from GFOA lets our team know the work doesn’t go unnoticed, and our budget document is considered a peer with the most respected cities in the nation,” she said.
Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award. There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program.
