Unauthorized Trail Construction

Unauthorized Trail Construction

You may have noticed some signs over the weekend prohibiting construction around the trail system adjacent to Lacamas Park and south of the dams.  While we appreciate the enthusiasm for our biking and hiking trails and want public involvement, the recent modifications to the trail system in the area are causing environmental strain and pose a liability for the City. The area adjacent to Lacamas Creek is an environmentally sensitive area, and the type of work being done could have extremely negative ramifications on the environment.  Therefore, construction will soon take place to remove any non-sanctioned additions and restore the trail system to its original design.  For those interested in getting involved and working with the City, now is the best time! You can let your voice be heard by joining in the process to update the Parks, Recreation and Open Space plan. The City will be kicking off this effort in the coming months and we need your input. If you would like to be involved, email parks@cityofcamas.us.

We understand the importance of recreation, and thankfully Camas is home to miles of trails that are open to bikes and pedestrians.  Additionally, residents can visit the Camas skate park, located at NE 3rd Ave, next to the Washougal River.
