Lacamas Lane to Reopen:
UPDATE at 5:00 p.m. 2/3/2016 - Lacamas Lane is now open.
Camas staff have recently met with their Geotechnical Consultant to evaluate the current condition of the Lacamas land slide to consider how to safely proceed with removal of the debris that has blocked the roadway.
Prior inspections indicated that continued rainfall was resulting in additional movement of the slide mass onto the roadway and so it has remained closed in an effort to provide for the safety of citizens.
The result of this most recent evaluation indicates that the removal of trees, root-balls and other debris from the roadway can be completed and how it can re-opened with the assistance of safety barriers. Once the debris is removed, the City intends to reopen the road temporarily while work continues on designing a permanent repair. Camas staff are expected to begin this limited clean-up effort later this week and then reopen the road shortly thereafter.
