Meet the Staff - Kate Laubernds

Kate is a lifelong book lover and future librarian who is passionate about children’s literacy, storytelling, and building inclusive spaces for all. Before diving into the library world, she spent over a decade in marketing at places like Powell’s Books, the Beaverton Farmers Market, and various wineries. When she’s not studying for school, you can find her hiking or backpacking with her family, beading, or being in community at tribal events.

• Her storytelling journey began in middle school while documenting her grandmother’s experience has a P.O.W. during WWII.
• She interviewed two authors during her tenure at Powell’s Books.
• Her favorite series is the Neapolitan series by Elena Ferrante.
