Meet the Staff- Chris Tanis

Chris and her family moved to Camas in 2021 and fell in love with our beautiful city immediately.  Having lived in Ohio, New Jersey, and Tennessee, the Pacific Northwest is new territory for Chris, but she feels quite at home here already.  Originally trained as a librarian, Chris instead worked as a webmaster for many years.  Eventually she left that work to support her growing family and pursue creative interests.  Chris took up pottery after leaving the tech field and still loves making things in clay.  She always hoped to return to library work one day so being a library assistant right here in her new town is a dream come true. 

Some favorites:  Books!  Her favorite book is always the last one she’s read.  Right now she’s reading James McBride's The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.  Gardening!  She’s passionate about native plants and is having a lot of fun creating a native habitat in her yard.  Bread!  Especially homemade sourdough with good butter.  Along those same lines, she’s a big fan of the Great British Baking Show.
