Camas Public Library Donates Newspaper Microfilm to Clark County Genealogical Society

The Camas Public Library is donating its historical microfilm collection of local newspapers to the Clark County Genealogical Society (CCGS) to expand public access.

The collection includes 48 reels: 47 reels of the Camas-Washougal Post-Record (1982-2007) and 1 reel of the Lacamas News (1887-1892).

Since the Camas Public Library does not have an in-house microfilm reader, these reels have been used sparingly for many years. Transferring the collection to CCGS places these community records where they can be actively consulted by genealogists, local historians, students, or anyone curious about the history of Camas and Washougal.

“By partnering with CCGS, we bring this collection to life once again,” said Danielle Reynolds, Technology & Collections Manager at the Camas Public Library. “It ensures that these newspapers are both preserved and used. We’re thrilled that these newspaper records will be more accessible to the people who need them most,” she said.

CCGS will house the reels at its library, where they will be available for on-site use. For more about the Society, including hours of operation, see: https://www.ccgs-wa.org/
