2025 Corner Gallery Exhibits

Daniel Langford Hughes - January 2025
Daniel was born in majestic Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he lived next to a wildlife refuge. He has spent much of his life drawing creatures – some real and some imagined – in entertainment art. Some of his many clients include Disney, Microsoft, Intel, Subaru and the US Military. Daniel holds a BFA in Illustration, and has won many awards such as the Barnett Plotkin Memorial Award from the Society of Illustrators, NYC. While teaching Design for over seven years at two universities, Daniel stumbled upon a new passion: teaching and mentoring emerging artists. He has since honed a student-centered teaching approach that allows each learner to shine. To add to his repertoire, he has recently earned a Certificate in Art Coaching & Healing. This allows him to provide support to individuals and groups as they process emotions through creating art.
Kids Art Club - February 2025
At the program Kids Art Club, students collaborated with others to create drawings. Each student added one section of a character without knowing what the others students added. Then the drawings were revealed to all participants. This approach to making art is called Exquisite Corpse and the approach can be applied to other mediums as well. It was a lot of fun!

Wanda Koch - March 2025
Posthumous exhibit of works by Wanda Koch, who lived in Camas and had a passion for painting natural landscapes and animals. This show was organized by her daughter, Kimberly Koch, in memory of her.

Earth Day Birds - April 2025
Camas Earth Day Society (CEDS) in partnership with Prune Hill Elementary is converting an unused school field into a vibrant lab for the 5th grade Earth Science classes. Students engaged in a project to learn about the various birds that live in the school's backyard. They learned about each bird's habitat, food source, nesting habits, coloring, beak size, foot shape, and sounds and then drew them.
Animals are Cool! - May 2025
An exhibit of animal-inspired sculptures by Woodburn Elementary School students.

Steigerwald Photo Contest Winners - September 2025

Printmaking Workshop for Teens - October 2025
In October the Library hosted a printmaking workshop for teens taught by Clark College printmaking instructor Brian Shannon. Some of the participants were kind enough to leave some of their prints for the Library to display in the Corner Gallery.
Maggi Miller - December 2025
Maggi Miller studied art at the University of Texas, Arlington, to learn how to teach art and art history to high school students. Her path after college took her a different route, but her interest in painting and printmaking remained. She became curious about the process of papermaking, and that led her to take a class with internationally renowned paper artist Priscilla Robinson. The experience revived her enthusiasm about the elements of art, especially color and texture. She saw her first stack of paper as an exciting medium for creating pictures without using a pencil or paintbrush.
Maggi has been using her own paper to create pictures and collages that may be abstract or pictorial images. She has shown her work in venues ranging from Austin’s Hyde Park Bar & Grill to galleries in Texas, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio. Her work has been recognized with a Merit Award by the Texas Visual Arts Association, and with an Honorable Mention in the Austin Art Boards competition. She wrote and illustrated a children’s book, The Baby Who Wouldn’t Say Mama, and her pictures have been included in a collection of literary essays, Awakened by Surprise, by Robert Bonazzi.
