Shakespeare’s Birthday

April 21, 2023 – He is one of the best-selling authors of all time; his original editions sell for millions of dollars, and he was favored by Queen Elizabeth I. William Shakespeare was a celebrity in his own time, and his works have never gone out of print. He was born on April 23, 1564, and died at the age of 52 on April 23, 1616 (yes, you read that right; he was born and died on the same day!). Shakespeare’s plays, poems, and sonnets have stood the test of time. Live plays, movies, miniseries, TV shows, and much more are always being reinvented. We have a large collection here at the Camas Public Library, but I think you’ll especially enjoy this curated list of some extra inventive and creative ways Shakespeare’s works have been used as source material.
