Here Come the Covid-19 Books...

Books on Covid-19

March 26, 2021 - It has been more than a year since the Coronavirus pandemic began. Can you believe it?? A year! My sense of time during this period could be summed up as follows: the days and weeks passed very slowly, and the months passed very quickly. I’ll never forget the day lockdown began in Camas because the last day of in-person school was Friday the 13th of March. It was a fitting date for the beginning of such a long and harrowing ordeal…and it’s still far from over! However, the recent news about decreasing transmission rates, and the availability of vaccines is a reason for optimism.

Throughout this pandemic I attempted to combat any fear and anxiety I had about the situation by trying to learn what I could about the virus itself, vaccines, and past pandemics. I think we’ve all become amateur epidemiologists at this point. People are hungry for new information and gobble up any fresh study or article about COVID-19. However, the developments around COVID-19 have moved so quickly that books were not available on the subject. Books take a long time to write and publish! Well, one year can make all the difference. Publishing houses tried to provide topical books as quickly as they could, and now there are a fair amount of books being published that deal with the Coronavirus.  And I’m sure there will be a continuous stream of books and novels published for years to come that explore the pandemic.

At the Camas Public Library, we have a selection of books and eBooks on the pandemic. If you are interested in taking a break from reading news articles, try one of these titles!
