The Monster Under the Bed by Edrian Isaacs

I never leave the bottom of the bed… Too dangerous usually, but I had to do it, I was starving, no food in days, I saw food and I went for it. I crawled across the ground, seeing remains of a meal of some sort. Suddenly I stopped, I heard a noise that stopped me in my tracks, the wood from the floor creaking. I knew what it was, that terrifying child living above me. The handle started turning, I scanned the room, hoping, praying that there was somewhere I could hide. Then I saw it, the closet was open, a perfect place to hide until the child left the room, I leaped inside and closed the door. Suddenly the door to the room opened, and the child stepped in. The child walked over to the bed and I chilled out. Suddenly I stepped on something and made a loud crack! The child jumped and started walking towards the closet. At this point, my breathing was getting heavy and I looked for places to hide suddenly the door opened. “AAAAAH.” the child screamed and ran towards the door. I never would’ve thought that a child would be scared of me, but I ran to the door to the room, sprinting through the house. I went out the front door to the sounds of crashes, as the parents and child scrambled to find me.

Just a Nightmare by Phoenix Rinta

It’s a late, dark, spine chilling night and I’m Sitting on the couch with my best friend Barry watching my favorite horror movie. I’ve seen it what feels like a million times, yet it still injects that horrible feeling into My mind, as if I were living in its Hellish world Never alone, as if My demise is ahead but I don't realize it yet.

“How long is this movie?” Barry pondered to me and broke my thoughts.

“About two hours.” I respond in a slow voice.

Barry slowly got up and did a stretch as if he was training to be an athlete, “Man, I better get going. Or I'm gonna get home late.” “Ok, come back tomorrow?” I responded in a dull voice. “Sure!” A crack of a smile formed on my tired face.

“See ya!” “-See ya.” Barry echoed back as he walked out the door.

I then realized that I’m now alone. I decided to try to finish some work before bed, so I dragged myself up the stairs and to my desk. I tried to work on my ever-growing math homework, but my face felt like it was melting all over my homework page as I struggled to stay awake. I finally gave up and decided to go to bed. I collapsed onto my Bed like a broom.

I was sitting in my bed then that feeling came back to me. The feeling of Demise. As I felt the sudden urge to look under my bed. Even though I didn’t believe in the idea of what's lurking there that my mind was Picturing. I Creeped Down by the side of my bed. “There’s no such thing as monsters.” I said softly. I lifted the sheet... Nothing. Obviously. I sat down and tried to fall asleep. . . .

I woke up, in a pool of sweat.

I looked around a bit, half asleep. When I could finally see I looked at the time. “3:15am” Then I noticed the Blood Red walls… But I didn't have time to Think before I heard a Scratching sound. I had seen enough not to stick around for this, so I quickly ducked under the bed. I looked at the time once more “3:16am”

Then, I heard IT. The door slowly creaked open. I covered my mouth. I heard footsteps followed by pressure on the bed above. My heart stopped as I felt the bed lean to the side. A pale white arm grasped the sheet. Then IT whispered softly. “There's no such thing as monsters”

My face turned gray. Its eyes locked on to me, its face lifeless. The last thing I saw, was its pale face As It reached out to grab me. I jolted up in my bed. “Phew,” I said in relief. “It was just a nightmare.”

Then I looked at the walls, blood red. I spun toward the clock. It was 3:15am. And just as it struck 3:16.

I heard my Door, Creak open.

Clarissa by Esti Ziesemer

A doorway stretches at least 15 feet. Two grand beautiful polished red sandalwood doors. A breathtaking gold door handle. A winding driveway with a squeaky gate at the end. Black paint peeling from the metal handrail creeping up the long stairs to the house. A compact window at the top of the door. A beautiful chandelier, at least 100 years old and a family heirloom. A dusty blood-red carpet on top of the spruce floor-boarded hallways. Cobwebs in the high vaulted ceilings.

That is my… neighbor's house. I wish that huge house was ours. The for-sale sign has been there for as long as I can remember. Recently, we got new neighbors. They're weird. Something is paranormal about them. We're going over for dinner tonight, to welcome them. I’m making brownies because my mom says it's a courtesy to bring food to a housewarming party.

Speaking of paranormal, I keep seeing these bats around my window. Everyone is already talking about what they’re going to be for Halloween. I’m thinking a vampire, and I hav- “Julia are you ready?!?” My mom shouts at me and my thoughts burst and float away. Oh, right, I need to get boots on. “Almost!” I yell back. Halloween decorations hung everywhere. Wow. They must take Halloween seriously since they JUST moved here. Ding Dong! My mom rings the doorbell and it snaps me out of my haze. I get shudders down my body and my legs get goosebumps but I shake it off and walk in anyway. Their house is grand. The people were dressed so fancy. I’m glad I came prepared in my dress.

“Julia meet their daughter, Clarissa.” My mom says making an eye motion to be kind and smile. Her black hair straight and shining. Her dress a smooth black velvet dress. Her nose as cute as a button, but her horrible smile haunts my eyes.

“Hello Julia.” Clarissa stares at me.

“H-h-hello Clarissa…?” I say stuttering to get my words out. “Do you want to come to my room and see my collection of childre- (she stares over to her father). I mean chilly snow globes. Heh.” Clarissa says while looking at her father strangely.

“I-Uh-I…” I keep stuttering.

My mom jumps in and saves me, “SURE!” She gives me “the look.”

We head up to her room and right as she shuts the door I feel a sharp pain in my neck “OW!” Clarissa is smiling with some peculiar red on her teeth. I start running out of pure fright. There is something dripping down my neck as I run, warm and metallic. Feeling woozy I try to find my mom in the crowd of people in the kitchen. The world starts feeling wonky. “Mom?” I scream. I suddenly have a grim hunger and craving for blood. My stomach wants to hurl with this weird feeling. Right as I see her, darkness fills the corners of my eyes. Black miasma swirls in my heart. The world slowly crumbles away.
