Library of Things

Library of Things

September 3, 2021 - September is “Library Card Sign-Up Month”! If you don’t already have a card, now is a great time to get a free Camas Public Library card (replacements are free as well). You can come to the Library or fill out the online form. Everyone is eligible to receive a Library card, even if you live outside the City limits.

We have much more to offer than just books! While we have magazines, newspapers, and DVDs, the REAL fun comes from several items you may not even know we offer.

Book Discussion Kits

Enjoy your own book club! Each kit includes 12 copies of a single title, a list of discussion questions, and a signout sheet.

Chargers (For in-house use only)

Need a portable battery to charge your device while visiting the Library? You can borrow one of our chargers! Multiple connectors are available. Inquire at the service desk.

Chromebooks (For in-house use only)

If you want to use our Wi-Fi but don’t have your computer with you, you can borrow a Chromebook. Inquire at the service desk.

Check Out Washington

This is a limited-edition Discover Pass, which grants borrowers access to millions of acres of state parks and other state public lands.

Hotspots

A rechargeable device that provides wireless internet on the go. Please note these devices only work in areas with cell service.

Nature Packs

These backpack activity kits provide families with tools they can use as they have fun exploring nature together. Families can explore Washington state parks, community parks, or their own backyards. These kits encourage children to learn about Washington wildlife, respect natural habitats, and enjoy the outdoors!

Micro:Bit Kits

The micro:bit is a pocket-size programmable microcontroller for ages 10 and up that lets you get creative with digital technology through coding, computer hardware, and electronic circuits. Featuring motion detection, a built-in compass, LED display, and Bluetooth technology, you can program the micro:bit to create games and robots. You can also connect to other devices, sensors, and objects, and experiment with electronic circuits. The micro:bit is a great springboard for learning more complex hardware like Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

Micro:Rover Kits

This is a programmable car kit for ages 10 and up. The kit contains the micro:rover car body, micro:bit board, ultrasonic ranging module, micro USB cable, line-tracking map, instruction binder, and various books about micro:bits.

We’re always adding new and exciting collections, so keep an eye out, as you never know what’s around the corner.
